Multiple Oscar Nominations for 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and Lady Gaga
The film "Bohemian Rhapsody", which chronicles the musical career of Queen and Freddie Mercury, has been nominated for an Oscar in five categories: Best Film, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Film Editing and Best Actor, in the latter case by the interpretation that Rami Malek makes of the emblematic Mercury.
The biopic rocker, which is expected to surpass 800 million dollars in the world box office in the coming days, will compete for the top prize with "Black Panther", "BlacKkKlansman", "The Favorite", "Green Book", "Roma", "A Star Is Born "and" Vice".
Malek, who won the Golden Globe for his performance, will face Christian Bale (Vice) Bradley Cooper ("A Star Is Born"), Willem Dafoe ("At Eternity's Gate") and Viggo Mortensen ("Green Book").
Lady Gaga, has been nominated for an Oscar in two of the most competitive categories. Her starring role in "A Star Is Born" gained her a nomination in the Best Actress category, along with Yalitza Aparicio ("Roma"), Glenn Close ("The Wife), Olivia Colman ("The Favorite") and Melissa McCarthy ("Can You Ever Forgive Me?").
"Shallow", her duet with Bradley Cooper and collaboration with Mark Ronson, opts for the Best Song, section in which they also find "All the Stars", the contribution of Kendrick Lamar and SZA to the soundtrack of "Black Panther"; "I'll Fight" (by Diane Warren) from the film "RBG"; "The Place Where Lost Things Go" from "Mary Poppins Returns" and the composition of David Rawlings and Gillian Welch "When A Cowboy Trades His Spurs For Wings" from the movie "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs".
The 91st Academy Awards will be presented on February 24 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood,
