‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Wins Two Of The Biggest Golden Globe Awards
It was a very successful night for the Queen/Freddie Mercury biopic film Bohemian Rhapsody at the Golden Globe Awards, nominated in two categories the movie won both, Best Motion Picture - Drama and Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama, actor Rami Malek receiving that honor for his role as Freddie Mercury in the film.
Bohemian Rhapsody celebrates the band Queen, their music, and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury, who defied convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers ever.
Despite mixed reviews that Bohemian Rhapsody received, it was a major success at the box office with ticket sales over $700 million becoming the ninth highest grossing film of 2018 and the most successful music biopic of all time.
In the Best Motion Picture - Drama category, Bohemian Rhapsody was up against, Black Panther, A Star Is Born, If Beale Street Could Talk and BlacKkKlansman. In the Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama, Rami Malek was up against Bradley Cooper (A Star Is Born), John David Washington (BlacKkKlansman), Lucas Hedges (Boy Erased) and Willem Dafoe (At Eternity's Gate).
Queen's guitarist Brian May, praised Malek's performance, calling it "incredible" and saying, "He just became Freddie."
Malek is also likely to be nominated for an Academy Award when they are announced on January 22., which is also the same day that Bohemian Rhapsody will be released for home viewing on digital platforms. The 4k Ultra HD/Blu-ray/DVD version will be released on Feb. 12, and can be pre-ordered now at Amazon.
