Whitesnake Announce Box Set for the 35th Anniversary of 'Slide It In'
It's been 35 years since Whitesnake scored their first platinum album with the album "Slide It In", and this anniversary will be celebrated by the band with a special seven-disc box set .
"Slide It In: The Ultimate Special Edition" will be released on March 8. The collection will present remastered versions of both the American and the British mix, as well as new remixes made especially for the 35th anniversary.

The extensive material will be completed with unpublished live and studio recordings, video clips, concert recordings and a new interview with Whitesnake founder and singer, David Coverdale.
"'Slide It In' was always intended to be a modern and more electric version of the classic rock based on the blues that Whitesnake was famous for," Coverdale said of the new remixes. "Listening to all the interpretations so fresh and so clear after 35 years was incredible."
The band originally recorded "Slide It In," their sixth studio album, in 1983. Their lineup at that time included Coverdale, guitarists Micky Moody and Mel Galley , bassist Colin Hodgkinson and keyboardist Jon Lord.
Soon after, the formation of the band changed. Lord left the group to join Deep Purple. John Sykes and Neil Murray were hired to replace Moody and Hodgkinson, respectively. Before the release of "Slide It In" in the United States, the album was remixed with newly recorded parts by Sykes, Murray and keyboardist Bill Cuomo. Both the British and American versions of the album will be included in the box set.
"Slide It In" sold more than 6 million copies. Songs like "Love Is not No Stranger", "Slow An 'Easy" and the title song helped make the album a worldwide hit. It continues to be the second best-selling album in the band's catalog, behind the successful self-titled 1987 album.
