Roger Waters Doubts The White Helmets and Criticizes Social Networks
The always political and controversial Roger Waters has put his critical eye on the White Helmets, a voluntary rescue organization that operates in areas of Syria controlled by the rebels and in Turkey. He also questioned the censorship of content by corporations through social networks such as Facebook, Google and YouTube.
In an interview with the Russian channel RT, Waters reflected on the authenticity of the White Helmets, arguing that "if that body exists and they go and help people after Assad or the Russians or someone else who has thrown bombs at them, then the I would back wholeheartedly. with every fiber of my being, but all the indications are that it's not really like that."
He continued to criticize the Oscar-winning documentary "The White Helmets" (2016), by Orlando von Einsiedel , saying: "Have you seen the documentary that won the Oscar? Have you noticed to what extent it becomes obvious that it is a staging prepared and filmed meticulously?".
This is not the first time that Waters criticizes the White Helmets. During a concert in 2017 in Barcelona, Waters called them a "fake organization" that served as propaganda for "jihadists and terrorists".
On the subject of social networks, Waters detailed the dangers of corporate participation: "Now Facebook, Google and YouTube are the way most people receive the news. And they use social networks to educate themselves or discover what is happening. But the content is being censored by the corporations that own them. Then it will not be free, I mean, it's not free now."
