Red Hot Chili Peppers Will Rock Egypt's Pyramids of Giza
The Red Hot Chili Peppers have explained that the work on their next album has been affected by the recent wildfires in California, attesting that it will be delayed, but the band has also announced an exciting new concert at the Great Pyramids of Giza, Egypt.
The Chilis are currently working on the successor to "The Getaway" (2016), which was their eleventh studio album.
Drummer Chad Smith spoke this week about the progress on the new material, and revealed that his plans to compose and record were affected by the devastating Woolsey fire, which spread through southern California late last year, killing four people and destroying dozens of properties and homes.
"We started working on the new album that, for us, is just a matter of going into a room, making noise and putting together some notes," Smith told Volume West of Sirius XM. "And then the fires came and the house we were working on was not damaged, it did not catch fire, but we could not go back there. So that stopped our progress."
Last weekend, the band led by Anthony Kiedis organized a charity concert for the victims of the Woolsey fire. The "Malibu Love Sesh" witnessed performances by artists such as St. Vincent (who played "Breakin 'The Girl" by the Peppers) and Beck.
While that will surely delay the arrival of a new album, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have confirmed that they will offer on March 15 a great concert with the Pyramids of Egypt as a set.
