Miley Cyrus, Neil Young, and Lady Gaga among those affected by fires in California
Miley Cyrus, Neil Young, Lady Gaga, Fred Durst and Kevin Parker are among those affected by California wildfires. Many artists have harshly criticized US President Donald Trump for some of his latest statements.
Miley Cyrus, who lost her home, said she felt "completely devastated by the fires that affected my community." The pop singer added that the house she shares with her fiancé, actor Liam Hemsworth , "is no longer standing."
Even so, Cyrus retained some optimism in this situation. "My animals and THE LOVE OF MY LIFE could leave safely and that is all that matters at this moment," she wrote, "I am grateful for all that I have left."
The singer also took a moment to thank the firefighters and invite their fans to donate to the Red Cross.
Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young has also lost his home in California. In a message posted on his website, the legendary rocker revealed that his house in Malibu was burned down over the weekend.
No hairs on the tongue, Young ventured criticizing Donald Trump for a tweet in which he blamed the state of California for the current situation. "California is vulnerable, not because of poor forest management as DT (our so-called president) wants us to believe. In fact, this is not a forest fire that breaks out as I write this, "Young wrote. "We are vulnerable because of climate change; extreme weather events and our prolonged drought are part of it."
"Here, the temperatures are higher than ever and this is the hottest summer ever recorded. That has not helped." "DT seems to be the Negador (I'm holding back and I do not use the word Liar). It really is time to recognize that this leader is not suitable. Maybe our new Congress can help. I sure hope that."
To conclude his comments, Young raised the following: "Imagine a leader who challenges science, saying that these solutions should not be part of his decision-making on our behalf. Imagine a leader who cares more for his own opinion, the more convenient one, than for the people he leads. Imagine an unfit leader. Now imagine one who is."
In a tweet published on Saturday morning, Trump blamed poor forest management for the current crisis and threatened to withdraw federal funds in the future. What Trump did not point out, however, is that more than 90% of the land burned so far is federally owned and in the federal budget his administration eliminated firefighter programs. Trump also believes that climate change is a hoax.
"There are no reasons for these huge deadly and costly wildfires in California, except that forest management is very poor. Billions of dollars are given every year, with so many lives lost, all due to poor forest management. Solutions now, or no more payments from the Federal Government! "
Katy Perry, for her part, has also criticized Trump's words.
Singer Lady Gaga has also been evacuated from her home. On his Twitter account he wrote: "I am deeply thinking of all those who suffer these abominable fires today and bemoan the loss of their homes or loved ones. I am sitting here like many of you asking me if my house will be engulfed in flames. All we can do is pray together and for others. God bless you".
"Thanks to the fire department, the police, first aid and emergency personnel for doing everything possible to help us. May God bless all the firefighters and lifeguards who continue to fight this fire. They risk their lives for us. You are our heroes, "she added.
Other figures such as singer Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit), actor Gerard Butler , director Scott Derrickson ("Doctor Strange"), Kim Kardashian , Will Smith , Guillermo Del Toro , Caitlyn Jenner and Denise Richards have been hurt by the fire . Paramount Ranch, where the HBO series "Westworld" was filmed, also burned down.
The emergency services continue with the search of more than 100 missing people in the area affected by the gigantic fire that burned since Thursday north of California and that, along with another fire in the south, have caused at least 31 deaths.
According to information posted on Twitter by the Butte County Fire Department, the fire named Camp Fire, located northeast of San Francisco, in addition to killing at least 29 people and injuring three firefighters, has already destroyed about 45,000 hectares, 6,450 homes and 260 shops. The three active fires in California have forced the evacuation of 300,000 people and add at least 80,000 affected hectares
