Metallica and Foo Fighters to Head Tribute Concert to Chris Cornell
The late singer Chris Cornell will be honored January 16 at the Los Angeles Forum. Members of Soundgarden, Audioslave and
Temple of the Dog - the three bands that Cornell joined - will be accompanied by Metallica, Foo Fighters, Ryan Adams and other artists.
"We are honored that all these amazing artists and friends come together to pay tribute and show their love and appreciation for Chris, his music and the brand he has left in the world," said Cornell's widow Vicky in a statement. of the press "We hope to share this night with all the fans."
Cornell died in May 2017 of an apparent suicide. Since then, the Pop Culture Museum in Seattle, Cornell's hometown, has presented a life-size bronze statue, and the heirs of the musician announced a new posthumous retrospective album.
Jimmy Kimmel will host the concert, which is "presented by the Cornell family and their closest friends," according to the press release. Each ticket purchased online for "I Am the Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell" will include a copy of the album "Chris Cornell".
The proceeds from the festival will be donated to two establishments: the Medical Research Foundation against Epidermolysis Ampollar and the one created by Chris Cornell with Vicky, who works with street children and abandoned by their parents.
