Maroon 5 Can't Find Guests For Super Bowl Halftime Show

New David Bowie Documentary To Explore Early Career

More than half a dozen artists have turned down the offer to accompany Maroon 5 in the Super Bowl halftime show, according to Variety.

The band has received much criticism for agreeing to participate in the event and not showing solidarity with Colin Kaepernick, the football player who knelt during the National Anthem as a protest against police brutality.

In October, actress Amy Schumer urged the band to reject the offer after it was reported that Rihanna had not agreed to participate in the show in solidarity with Kaepernick.

Last month, a petition was created on the Change.org platform for the band to reconsider its position. Currently, it has more than 73,000 signatures.

Now, it has been reported that Adam Levine and company are struggling to get guest artists for the show, which will take place on February 3 in Atlanta. According to Variety, the sources claim that the band has invited more than half a dozen artists, although none of them has accepted.

It is said that Cardi B, who appears in the song of Maroon 5 "Girls Like You" was invited. "She has been going back and forth with the decision, but right now it's a no," a source told US Weekly. In February, Cardi said he would only act "if they re-hired Colin Kaepernick."

In addition to Cardi B, rapper Post Malone and singer Bruno Mars will be in Atlanta in the days surrounding the Super Bowl. It is commented that Andre 3000, Lauryn Hill and Nicki Minaj are also on the list of possible guests.

Speaking of the challenge facing Maroon 5, Howard Bragman, of La Brea Media, told Variety: "It's like a movie: if you can not choose the biggest stars, you need a very high concept. If the other TV channels smell that the program is going to be weaker, they will fight back with strong programs, so you have to come up with something really strong."

Bragman said that "there is no doubt that it will be a challenge" for Adam Levine and his bandmates.

Maroon 5 has not yet confirmed their appearance in the Super Bowl.
