Lady Gaga Defends Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, And Talks About Sexual Abuse
Lady Gaga was the star guest of "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" to promote the movie A Star Is Born. However, her film debut and the respective soundtrack took a back seat due to a much more urgent issue: her support for Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, one of the women who accused the candidate for the Supreme Court of the United States. Brett Kavanaugh, of sexual abuse.
The pop star has never hidden her political views, especially when it comes to support for women, the LGBTQ + community and survivors of sexual abuse. Speaking with Colbert, Lady Gaga - who suffered sexual abuse - explained in detail how a sexual assault can change the way one thinks and processes such a traumatic event. "The brain changes and, literally, what it does is take the trauma and put it in a box, file it and close it so that we can survive the pain," she explained.
Lady Gaga said that sexual abuse "also does many other things, it can cause pain in the body, it can raise the base in anxiety". She added: "You can completely avoid the desire to remember or think about what happened to you."
At a rally in Mississippi earlier this week, Donald Trump mocked the loss of Dr. Ford's memory after her alleged sexual abuse. "It's one of the most disturbing things I've witnessed," Lady Gaga said.
On Ford's willingness to present her accusations, despite her trauma, Lady Gaga said: ... She was "brave enough to share it with the world to protect this country."
