Happy Birthday Joey Tempest
Born Joakim Larsson, on August 19,1963, in Stockholm, Sweden. Joey Tempest made a name for himself as the lead singer for the rock band Europe, his unique voice became known worldwide from the success of ‘The Final Countdown’ in 1986.
Joey's self-titled debut album was released in 1995 and had a selection of decent quality tracks, most of which contained at least one melodious hook. It was well produced, sung and played - but it all added up to little.
Tempest had took on a more mainstream pop direction that many of his fans found too retro. Tracks such as ‘We Come Alive’ and ‘Pleasure And Pain’ had their appeal, but left a little aftertaste. Later solo releases continued the same trend with his 2002 self-titled collection even leaning close to a 1980's electronic pop sound. Tempest joined the reunited Europe In 2003 for a world tour.
