Watch Foreigner’s New Children’s Hospital Fundraising ‘I Want to Know What Love Is’ Video
The legendary band Foreigner has released a new beneficial version of their classic song "I Want to Know What Love Is".
The video shows the leader Mick Jones and the singer Kelly Hansen performing with some patients of the Shriners Hospitals for Children. The proceeds of the launch will help support the network of 22 medical centers, which began offering health services to children
in need in 1922.
"There is a spiritual tone in 'I Want to Know What Love Is,'" Jones said in a statement. "And when you apply the lyrics to a cause like Shriners Hospitals for Children, this gives a new meaning to the song."
Executive Vice President of the Shrines Hospitals, John McCabe, added: "It is difficult to put an economic value on this gift, but this is really a monumental donation for us." He described the participation of patients in the video as an "invaluable experience" for them.
"Forigner has been involved with Shriners Hospitals for 10 years," Hansen said, "and we've been looking for a way to make a more significant impact. The lyrics of this song really speak of the qualities we have observed in children here, at Shriners Hospitals. The children show that amazing resistance and happiness that really makes us think how powerful love is."
The new version of the single can be downloaded through Google Play or iTunes as of January 1. It will also appear on the live album "Greatest Hits of Foreigner Live", which will be published on February 15 (Pre-order on Amazon).
