Def Leppard and Stevie Nicks, Among Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominees
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced the nominations for their "class" of 2019. Def Leppard and Stevie Nicks lead the list of candidates along with Janet Jackson, Rage Against the Machine and Radiohead.
This is Def Leppard's and Stevie Nicks' first nominations, although Nicks was already admitted to Rock Hall in 1998 as a member of Fleetwood Mac. Also appearing for the first time as candidates are Devo, John Prine, Roxy Music and Todd Rundgren. The other nominees are Kraftwerk, LL Cool J, MC5, The Cure, Rufus & Chaka Kahn and The Zombies.
As has been the case in recent years, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is allowing fans to participate in the voting process. Until December 9 you can enter the website once a day and make the selection. Visitors to the Rock Hall in Cleveland will also be able to cast their ballot in an urn adjacent to the gallery dedicated to members last year.
The five candidates who get the most votes will be in a "fan ballot" and forwarded along with the results of others to "more than 1,000 artists, historians and members of the music industry" that make up the electoral body of the Hall. The winners will be announced shortly after the voting ends.
The entrance ceremony will take place on March 29, 2019 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The artists who joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018 were Bon Jovi, The Cars, Dire Straits, The Moody Blues, Nina Simone and Sister Rosetta Tharpe .
