David Crosby says that ABBA's music is 'dog poop'
In a series of recent tweets, veteran singer-songwriter David Crosby repeatedly referred to the music of the Swedish pop group ABBA as "dog poop".
David Crosby started innocently, when a fan asked about the best band he's ever seen play. The former member of The Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash responded by naming several of his peers: The Beatles, Steely Dan, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor and Jackson Browne.
But things soon took a turn. When the name of ABBA came up, Crosby did not save anything and simply tweeted "Dog poop". "They did not make a decent song," he added.
The universe of Twitter was quickly put on one side or the other. One user wrote: "ABBA is for music as plastic fruit is for food", while another said "ABBA was 'an act', not 'a band'. And like any 'act', it was smooth, bright and non-threatening pop that just wanted to 'entertain' you. There was no substance. There is a place for such acts: Las Vegas, Atlantic City, hell ... "

But others were surprised to see Crosby's lack of respect for one of the most selling groups of all time. ""Starting to doubt your sanity -- great production and melodies -- lighten up!", Answered one person.
Another wrote: "Surprised by your tweet. I thought you would have a much broader appreciation of music. #ABBA had many great songs. "
But Crosby persisted. "ABBA is almost as deep as a birdbath." Another replied: "Ah David! It's not about the lyrics with ABBA, it's the melodies. They are up to the very, very best pop music writers. "
"Fair enough," Crosby replied. "Probably the stupidest song I wrote ... probably also the most popular ... that's what we're dealing with."
After being dubbed "the a--hole Twitter deserves" a couple of years ago, Crosby said: I love communicating with people. I'm fascinated by other humans. Some of the questions are silly. 'How was it really in Woodstock?' Well, I can not remember it. I was drugged! I'm tired of being asked that. What comes first, the lyrics or the music? I receive many things. Often, however, I get something that is really smart. I have fun with that. I love talking to people.
