Dave Grohl Explains Why Foo Fighters Never Played The Super Bowl
With the great popularity of Foo Fighters and ideal songs for stadiums, it would be logical for the band to have an opportunity to play at the Super Bowl halftime. However, this opportunity never comes.
Recently, Dave Grohl and drummer Taylor Hawkins offered an interview on KROQ station in Los Angeles where the issue was raised.
"I've had several conversations over the years where they say: 'We want to have a rock' n 'roll band. Do you think you could do it? Do you think you could play in a stadium?'" Grohl recalled. "I thought, 'Yes, we do it all the time.' Peno at the same time thought: 'My God, I think we're going to make the Super Bowl!' And then I'll be like Madonna, Katy Perry or someone like that."
Having been so close on several occasions, Grohl may have sunk any future opportunity when he accidentally spoke of more before the wrong person. "At a party in France I got to meet the guy who makes the Super Bowl, and I said, 'I do not even want to make the Super Bowl!', Yes. "I wanted to do it before. Now I do not want to do it anymore! '"
Although nothing has been made official yet, rumors suggest that Maroon 5 will play in the next Super Bowl , which will take place on February 3, 2019 at the Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta. Last week it was commented that an offer "has been made and accepted".
Hawkins expressed some concern about what it could symbolize. "I do not want to be negative with Maroon 5," he said, "but it always seems to be the last chapter of your career."
Grohl seemed to agree with the evaluation of his drummer. "Yes, I do not know if it's throwing yourself in the sink, I do not know," Grohl said. "We're trying to find excuses why we have not done it."
