Cher Reveals First Track of Her ABBA Cover Album 'Dancing Queen'
It has been a generally disappointing 2018 for pop music with the absence of our favorite iconic pop divas, but Cher is still here to make the year a bit more bearable for pop music fans.
Earlier today (August 9) the pop legend released her rendition of “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)”, as the first single from her soon to be released album of ᗅᗺᗷᗅ cover songs titled (you guessed it) "Dancing Queen" expected September 28.
The 72 yr. old Cher explains in the press release “I’ve always liked ABBA and saw the original Mamma Mia musical on Broadway three times,” she adds “After filming Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, I was reminded again of what great and timeless songs they wrote and started thinking ‘why not do an album of their music?’ The songs were harder to sing than I imagined but I’m so happy with how the music came out. I’m really excited for people to hear it. It’s a perfect time.”
The album was produced by Mark Taylor, who also lead production for Cher's successful album Believe.
