Bruce Springsteen's Born to Run Manuscript Expected to Fetch as Much as $300K at Auction
A rare set of early lyrics to "Born to Run" handwritten by Bruce Springsteen while he was working on the song is up for bid as part of an online auction organized by Sotheby's.
The document, which The Boss wrote on one sheet of white, lined paper in 1974 at his home in Long Branch, New Jersey, is expected to bring between $200,000 and $300,000.
The manuscript features many segments that were eventually revised, as well as notes and comments from Springsteen suggesting alternate words and phrases. Bidding on the lyrics began Monday, June 18, and will be open through June 28.
