Bob Seger Announces Dates For 'Travelin Man', Farewell Tour

Motley Crue - Classic Rock A-Z

Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band will leave the tours. The singer announced that his next tour, named "Travelin 'Man", will be the final chapter of his career on stage.

Seger revealed the news in a press release that added more dates to the concerts that had been rescheduled last year, when a back surgery forced him to cancel the "Runaway Train" tour even before it began. It was suspected, but never confirmed, that Seger was already thinking about leaving the stage , because that tour had been announced in a video that contained the phrase "one last time".

In today's announcement, Seger did not provide a specific reason for his decision to leave the tours. However, as Rolling Stone points out, the 73-year-old musician has mentioned his possible retirement since 2011. At that time he said: "I can not do this much longer. My manager is 70 years old. We have been together for 45 years and we have to stop very soon and make way for the Kid Rocks and Eminems . I guess we're in the final stage. When I left the stage the other night, I told the security man: 'That was surreal. I can not believe I just did a full rock show. It's just surreal.'"

Seger will begin his farewell tour at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on November 21 and end on May 2 at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Houston. Other dates will be announced in the future, including concerts in Las Vegas, Fresno, San Diego, Vancouver and Florida.

With the exception of the Dallas and Houston concerts, tickets for the rescheduled dates are available now, tickets for the Texas shows and most of the others will be available on Sept. 28
