Annie Lennox Shares Music Video for 'Requiem For A Private War'
Annie Lennox has shared her first original song since the release of her 2010 Christmas album, "A Christmas Cornucopia." This new melody is called "Requiem for a Private War", and the Scottish singer-songwriter wrote it for the movie "A Private War".
Directed by Matthew Heineman, the film tells the story of Marie Colvin, a foreign correspondent who carried out her task on the battlefront before being killed while
covering the siege of Homs, Syria, in 2012.
"Writing 'Requiem for a Private War' for the film 'A Private War' has not only given me the opportunity to honor Marie Colvin," Lennox said in a statement, "but also aims to amplify the message of 'the truth.' to the power 'for which she fought throughout her life to transmit it to the world, in relation to the atrocious consequences of war and its effects on innocent civilian populations."
"A Private War" stars Rosamund Pike, Jamie Dornan and Stanley Tucci. All proceeds from "Requiem for a Private War" will go to the Journalist Network Marie Colvin, a non-profit organization that provides support to women journalists who cover stories in the dangerous regions of the Middle East and North Africa.
